Cambs Animal Search & Rescue (Huntingdonshire)
We are proud to provide volunteer-led animal search and rescue services across the whole of Huntingdonshire, supporting animals and their owners 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
From the moment we receive a call for help, our volunteers work to gather information, coordinate searches, share missing animal alerts, and liaise with members of the local community. We use a range of search methods and resources to give every animal the best possible chance of being safely located and returned home.
Our work covers towns, villages, rural areas, and surrounding communities throughout Huntingdonshire.
Huntingdonshire covered 24/7 – because every animal matters.

Cambs Animal Search & Rescue (Huntingdonshire)
Our work reflects an important truth: when an animal goes missing, the experience can be frightening and deeply upsetting, and practical support can make a real difference.
The group’s work is especially valuable because a missing pet is not simply a lost possession.
Dogs and cats are often members of the family, and their disappearance can leave owners feeling helpless. A search-and-rescue organisation can provide reassurance, practical assistance and a sense that someone is working alongside them. By helping owners search for their animals, Cambs Animal Search & Rescue contributes to the wider community as well as to animal welfare.

Microchips are very important for cats and dogs because they help identify lost pets and reunite them with their owners. A tiny chip, placed safely under the animal’s skin, contains a unique identification number. Vets and shelters can scan it to find the owner’s contact details. Microchipping provides pets with a permanent form of identification, unlike collars, which can easily be lost..

If you find a lost or stray dog, the most important thing is to keep the dog safe and try to reunite them with their owner. Approach calmly and carefully, as a frightened dog may be nervous or defensive. If it is safe to do so, secure the dog in a safe place away from traffic and other animals.
Check whether the dog is wearing a collar or identification tag. The details on the tag may allow you to contact the owner directly..
